Going There: How to STOP ARGUING and LISTEN to Someone with Whom You Disagree a presentation with Mayra Bloom and Laura Shapiro

Sunday Oct 28, 2018, 2 p.m. 3:30 p.m.

In this period of profound political division it can feel pointless — even dangerous — to talk with people who hold views opposed to our own.

No matter where we are on the Red-Blue Spectrum, we may find ourselves hurling “facts” and demonizing friends, family, and co-workers. Attempting to dialogue and find common ground seems like a waste of time, so we just shut down and decide to “not go there.”

Come learn:

  • Possible benefits of listening and talking with “the other side.”
  • What listening is and is not.
  • How to stop arguing and listen to someone with whom you disagree.
  • How to find common ground and move forward

All perspectives welcome.
