Our area has long been a magnet for authors. Close to the hub of the publishing universe in New York City, it has offered a tranquil place for artistic work, and while the county has changed in the last few decades, it continues to draw creative people to its charming river villages and wooded hillsides.
In October, the Piermont Public Library will provide an opportunity for local residents to meet and mingle with some contemporary Rockland authors, who may very well be their neighbors, at a Local Author Book Fair. On Sunday, October 16, from 1-4 p.m., seasoned authors with many published titles to their credit, and newer authors, some self-published who are just beginning to learn the ropes, will make their books available at the library. The work will include fiction and nonfiction titles, with books for children and young adults as well as adult readers. The world of publishing has also changed tremendously in the last few years, and events such as this have become popular in connecting authors to one another and to their audience. Taking home books signed by the author, with whom one has just talked about their life and work, is a unique experience. It’s also a great way to get a head start on holiday shopping!
