Fantasy Puppet Theater made its debut at the Ark in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in the summer of 1973. Katzman has since toured the U.S., performing at museums, nightclubs, libraries, camps, major armed forces installations and for many municipal recreation departments. He has produced a television documentary, and in 1990, performed Sergei Obrastsov's puppet play entitled "Mortal Danger" at the Bruno Walter Theater at Lincoln Center. Fantasy Puppet Theater has received funding from the New York State Council on the Arts and Con Edison. Katzman earned his M.A. in Television and Radio production from the University of Michigan and was a fellow at Princeton University. He is now retired from teaching full time at Bergen Community College and will be pursuing his work with the puppet theater. The show is free and open to all, but space is limited.
