Special events at the Library have included concerts, staged readings, monthly film screenings, book discussions with authors, exhibit opening receptions, annual gift of art shows, nature and history presentations, art and music classes for children, holiday crafts for children, and much more. The events have been very well received by the community. Our concerts and film screenings have attracted large audiences of over 100 people attending.

Friday, October 3, 2008 - First Friday Film Series presented The Purple Rose of Cairo, a Woody Allen film which was filmed in Piermont. Prior to the screening, Piermont photo-journalist Sally Savage spoke about her experiences photographing the movie filming and how much it changed Piermont. 80-100 people were in attendance.
"Scarebrarian" at the 1st Annual Scarecrow Design Contest, sponsored by The Friends of the Library. A total of 12 scarecrows were made and 2 winning scarecrows were selected by Piermont Mayor Chris Sanders - Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008.
Sunday, December 7, 2008 - Gift of Art Show gala reception. The Library held its annual art show, which exhibited works of 22 notable local artists. Sale of art benefits the library operations and programming.
Pumpkin Painting Party was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. The regular Art Class was expanded to welcome other children to this special pre-Halloween event. 26 children decorated a pumpkin to take home for Halloween!
Close Encounters With Birds of Prey, presented by Bill from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center, who brought live raptors to the library for this special event - Thursday, July 17, 2008.

June 8, 2008 - the movie Big Night was the first film shown at the monthly 1st Friday Film Series, with series producer Marc Farre.
