Special events at the Library have included concerts, a staged reading, monthly film screenings, book discussion with the author, exhibit opening receptions, birds of prey presentation, art and music classes for children, and more.

Highlights from the Library's past Special Events:
Events hosted by the Piermont Public Library have been very well received by the community. Our 2008 Sunday concerts have attracted large audiences, with 114 people attending the February 3rd chamber concert, and 90 people enjoying a jazz concert on April 6th.

Sunday, February 3, 2008 - chamber concert with The Norwood Trio performing music by Bach, Mozart & Pergolese. 114 people attended the concert.
Sunday, April 6, 2008 - jazz concert, with musical performance by Charles Descarfino & Friends, had about 90 people in attendance.
July 2007 - Exhibit and special presentation of illustrations by Betsy Franco Feeney.
Sunday, June 8, 2008 - the movie Big Night was shown as the first in a monthly series of the Piermont Library Cine-Club.
Sunday, June 22, 2008 - free concert of contemporary music for the Javanese gamelan with performance by the Gamelan Son of Lion.
Thursday, July 17, 2008 - Close Encounters With Birds of Prey, presented by Bill from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center, brought live raptors to the library in a special Summer Evening Program for Children and Families.

Friday, October 3, 2008 - First Friday Film Series presented The Purple Rose of Cairo, a Woody Allen film which was filmed in Piermont. Prior to the screening, Piermont photo-journalist Sally Savage spoke about her experiences photographing the movie filming and how much it changed Piermont. 80-100 people were in attendance at this movie event.

Sunday, October 19, 2008 - 1st Annual Scarecrow Design Contest, sponsored by The Friends of the Dennis P. McHugh Piermont Public Library. A total of 12 scarecrows were made during the event. 2 winning scarecrows were selected by Piermont Mayor Chris Sanders.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008 - Pumpkin Painting Party. The regular Art Class was expanded to welcome other children to this special pre-Halloween event. 26 children decorated a pumpkin to take home for Halloween! All materials were provided.
