Library NOOKS circulate for a loan period of 2 weeks.

How does one borrow a library NOOK?

  • Simply present your valid, adult Piermont library card at the front desk
  • Carefully read and sign the Agreement form
  • Check out the NOOK as you would a book

e-Books Update »

OverDrive, our library system’s eBooks provider, updated its eBooks service (at efiles.rcls.org ) to improve access to electronic books.

This update includes:

  • A simple One-Step Checkout: log in and borrow books quickly.
  • OverDrive Read books instantly viewable in Web browsers (online or off)
  • Synced reading across devices (e.g. start reading on a PC, continue on an iPad)
  • A new and improved catalog for computer and mobile device users.
  • Advanced searching, personalized suggestions, and more.

New in The Henderson Children's Room: The AWE Early Literacy Station »

The Dennis P. McHugh Piermont Public Library announces the acquisition of the Early Literacy Station™ (ELS), a complete, turnkey educational solution loaded with over 55 educational software titles for kids ages 2–8. The Early Literacy Station™ offers children a safe, standalone computer not connected to the Internet that is age-appropriate, engaging, and academically relevant for children. The ELS has a colorful keyboard and tiny mouse to promote easy learning and self discovery.

The Early Literacy Station's educational software covers seven curricular areas: reading, math, science, social studies, writing, arts and music, and reference. The system is designed to attract and educate toddlers through early elementary school ages.

The Early Literacy Station™ has an imaginative interface that encourages exploration. Many of the software programs contain disguised learning activities that expand the child’s experience through games and extension activities.

The Early Literacy Station was donated by The Riley Family Foundation.

Dennis P. McHugh Piermont Public Library Election Information

On Wednesday, December 5, 2012, Piermont voters will be asked to elect three library trustees. In this election it will not be necessary for voters to approve the operating budget for the fiscal year 2013/2014 because the budget has not increased from the budget for 2012/2013. The vote will take place at the Piermont Public Library from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. This fact sheet has been prepared to provide you with information about the programs and services of the library, the budget for the coming year, and the election of trustees.

Library Activity 2011–2012

  • 1,705 residents have library cards. This represents approximately 68% of Piermont’s population according to 2010 Census data.
  • The library offered 226 programs with an attendance of 4,652 people, up from an attendance of 3,878 last year.
  • Visits to the library totaled 24,921 people, up from 23,257 last year.
  • The library circulated 16,970 items, a decrease from 17,808 last year, returning to the same level as in 2009-10.
  • Through September of this calendar year, 19,342 people have visited the library.
