Virtual Artist of the Month: Robert Adzema
For the month of June, we invite you to explore the work of local artist, Robert Adzema. Of particular interest to Piermont residents will be his evocative marsh paintings. You can view his work at https://www.robertadzema.com/paintings-piermontmarsh.html
Many of Adzema’s watercolor landscapes were painted on site at the Piermont marsh, pier and waterfront over the last thirty years. These are colorful and expressive paintings which capture the light, atmosphere, energy and beauty of the Piermont waterfront.
“Plein air painting is powerful way to get to see and know a landscape. Spending 2 to 3 hours painting on location is a unique way to engage with the specific landscape before you. You get to know the light, whats growing and living there, the specifics and changeability of the weather and all that is alive in you and outside you in your dialogue with what is before you.”
“Watercolor painting is one of the most difficult painting mediums because it is unforgiving. You can not rework an area and o go back over a passage often makes it looks dull and overworked. The medium is prized for its transparency, luminosity and immediacy. It is easily transportable and ideally suited for travel ad painting on location.”
In Loving Memory…
The Piermont Library is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bob Samuels and his partner Karen Brown.
A beloved and longstanding member of the community, Bob was very involved with our Library’s events and supportive of our community as a whole. As President of the Piermont Civic Association and Editor of the Piermont Newsletter, Bob touched the lives of so many and he will be greatly missed.
He, and all those in our communities, like Charlie Bullock and his family, who have passed during these troubling times, will be remembered in our hearts. For Bob and Karen, we can at least find some small joy knowing that they are once again together, and at peace. For all those lost to this terrible disease, we hope that they are resting easy and those that loved them will find some peace and know we are thinking of them.
