Join us for the latest in our popular series of Create and Sip Events for Adults with Alexis Starke. This month, we will create a colorful landscape painting, perfect for holiday gift-giving, inspired by the equally colorful and somewhat controversial French artist, Paul Gauguin. Each participant will receive a goody bag with chocolates, a mini bottle of wine, paper, and inspiration images. You can choose which art materials to use- acrylic paints or oil pastels will work best for this project. However, crayons or colored pencils could work as well- even markers. You will also need an inspiration image or two of your own- perhaps your backyard or a friend or relative’s backyard or a favorite local park. Our projects area always designed to be relaxed and beginner friendly but fun for all levels. This is a live virtual class. Registration for Piermont patrons begins Tuesday, November 1st at 10:00 am. Registration for all begins Friday, November 4th at 10:00 am.

November Art Exhibition- Michael Garber: Piermont Vistas
For the month of November, the Piermont Library is pleased to present our Art Show of the Month- Michael Garber: Piermont Vistas. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, November 6th, 3:00 – 5:00 pm. All are welcome.
From the Artist
Over the past twelve years, I have taken photographs of seasonal views of the Hudson River and environs from the Piermont Pier and the Village. Contrasting light, cloud formations, reflections and the warmth of the early morning light are among the elements that have fascinated me. As a landscape, nature, and portrait photographer, I have been intrigued by the subjectivity of light drawing me to objects as they transform in the changing light, creating dramatic scenes.
About the Artist
Michael Garber, a landscape, nature, and portrait photographer intrigued by the subjectivity of light, is drawn to objects as they are transformed in changing light. He employs light as a design element in shaping and capturing his images. Dramatic scenes attract his attention especially where color and texture add depth and intensity. He has travelled extensively to photograph diverse landscapes and birds in their unique light.
His esthetic vision has been influenced and shaped from having lived in France and Mexico and immersing himself in their cultures, as well as by a six-month journey by land through Central and South America.
Michael studied photography at the International Center for Photography (ICP) in New York City where he created compelling projects in Street Photography and Portraiture. His portraiture project photographing his
friend, Vince, continued after ICP for over five years. With a team of professionals Michael has created a draft book combining his portraits with Vince’s words of wisdom.
He is the photographer (with over 400 photographs) for the Timber Press book, titled The History of Landscape Design in 100 Gardens by Linda A. Chisholm, showcased with a lecture and book signing at the New York Botanical Garden in 2018.

We remember
We remember the thousands of brave rescue workers and civilians who perished as a result of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. We remember those who selflessly gave their lives while desperately trying to save the lives of others. They are heroes who will not be forgotten.
We remember beloved fallen firefighter Dennis P. McHugh (Engine 22 Ladder 13) for whom our library is named. The generosity of the Dennis P. McHugh Foundation enabled the construction of the Library’s beautiful building overlooking Flywheel Park and the Hudson River, a symbol of the collective spirit and positive power of community strength to overcome adversity. His memory and legacy are with us always.
the American spirit will prevail over this tragedy
