Join us for our lively Adult Book Discussion Group on Wednesday, September 22nd from 3:00 – 4:00 pm. We had to postpone our August meeting, so for September, we are reading the 1943 classic, A tree Grows in Brooklyn, by Betty Smith. We meet outside at the gazebo by the river. Please register in case of bad weather so we can send you the Zoom link. New members are always welcome! Details and registration on our events page.
Outdoor Story Time!
We are currently offering two outdoor story times on Monday with Ms. Nancy and Ms. Judy, one at 11:00 am and one at 2:00 pm.
Children up to 3 years old with caregiver may come and join us for stories, songs, and fingerplays. Until further notice, we will be meeting in Parelli Park. Please bring something to sit on.
Never Forget
Today, on the twentieth anniversary, we remember.
We remember the thousands of brave rescue workers and civilians who perished as a result of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. We remember those who selflessly gave their lives while desperately trying to save the lives of others. They are heroes who will not be forgotten.
We remember beloved fallen firefighter Dennis P. McHugh (Engine 22 Ladder 13) for whom our library is named. The generosity of the Dennis P. McHugh Foundation enabled the construction of the Library’s beautiful building overlooking Flywheel Park and the Hudson River, a symbol of the collective spirit and positive power of community strength to overcome adversity. His memory and legacy are with us always.
the American spirit will prevail over this tragedy

Adult Art and Craft Class: Pacita Abad
Join us on Friday, September 10th, at 1:00 pm for a super fun and relaxing Adult Art and Craft class with Alexis Starke. This month, we will create a colorful abstract collage inspired by Philippine-American artist Pacita Abad. This project is quite simple for beginners but still challenging and rewarding for more experienced artists and crafters. Each participant will receive various papers and fabrics and inspiration images. This project also segues nicely into this month’s Create and Sip Class. You will also need scissors and glue. Please email astarke@piermontlibrary.org with any questions. Our projects area always designed to be relaxed and beginner friendly but fun for all levels. This is a live virtual class.
Honoring and Remembering September 11th, 2001
We have two programs this month honoring and remembering September 11th, 2001. As always, we remember beloved fallen fire fighter Dennis P. McHugh for whom our library is named. We are forever grateful for his service, and that of so many brave men and women, to the people of New York.
On Wednesday, September 8th, join us for a documentary film screening via Zoom of 9/12: From Chaos to Community.
Then on Friday, September 10th, join us for a virtual talk A Story of a 9/ 11 Survivor: Victorian Lockhart.
